Best cars for UberLUX drivers 2019
Best UberLUX cars 2019
Uber Lux is an Uber service for passengers who are seeking an extremely high-end ride (driven by a professional-level chauffeur). Drivers can expect to pick up passengers on their way to important events (such as weddings; proms; graduations; launch parties for high end brands; or even a group of young women on their way to a bachelorette party).
For such memorable occasions, passengers expect the most luxurious of rides – and UberLUX delivers! For prospective UberLUX drivers, this means they’ll need to stick to a more rigid set of options than any of Uber’s other service classes, but…the payoff can be much more lucrative, especially when you factor in the base prices for an UberLUX ride vary between $8 – $20, and LUX rides command a minimum fee of $30.
Vehicles for Uber Lux must be from premium manufacturers (such as Lexus, Audi, Tesla, or equivalent). Vehicles must be 2012 (or newer) models, seat at least four passengers, have four doors, be a luxury sedan or SUV, be in mint condition, and pass Uber’s rigorous inspection process.
BMW M5
The BMW M5 is a sport sedan that will cost UberLUX drivers between $45,000 and $80,000 (or more), especially if bought brand-new. With seating for up to five passengers, climate control, and internet surfing capabilities on the go, the BMW M5 provides a luxury experience like no other. Drivers will appreciate the vehicle’s sophisticated ‘pedestrian detection’ system, as well as its in-built night vision, heated steering wheel, and ventilated seats, plus a departure-lane warning system (which helps reduce collision risk).
Chevrolet Tahoe
The Chevrolet Tahoe may be a full-size SUV, and take a little more fuel to run – but for those passengers that appreciate size as a luxury, this vehicle certainly won’t disappoint. The fourth-generation Tahoe (released in 2015) will run in the $40,000 – $50,000 range, making it one of the more affordable UberLUX vehicle options on the market. Headroom, knee room, and ease-of-entry make this vehicle ideal for passengers (and, notably, a third-row seat allows for up to nine passengers). With a forward-collision alert system; departure warning; and other strong safety features, UberLUX drivers can feel confident they will be well-prepared to handle day-to-day driving in the Chevy Tahoe.
Lincoln Navigator
The Lincoln Navigator is a full-size luxury SUV, that underwent a significant 2015 ‘refresh’ – a revamping that arguably put it in direct competition with vehicles like the Cadillac Escalade, Infiniti QX80 and Mercedex-Benz. This model features My Lincoln Touch with Sync, heated and cooled seats, and a power lift gate (to make luggage loading and unloading that much easier). Drivers will appreciate the front-park assist rain sensing wipers, and the back-up camera to help them avoid accidents. A 2015 Lincoln Navigator will run UberLUX drivers $50,000+, while a 2017 model will cost upwards of $85,000.
Kia K900
The Kia K900 is a full-size luxury four-door sedan that launched in 2012. The 2017 Kia K900 is reasonably affordable for high-end buyers at $49,000+ (especially considering it is classed as a true luxury vehicle). With a 14-speaker audio system, park assist system, rear parking guide and blind spot detection system, this vehicle provides drivers with more-than-expected safety features. Passengers will enjoy the roomy interior, ventilated and heated seats and comfortable lumbar supports.
Tesla Model S
The Tesla Model S is an all-electric full-size luxury car, with a 2016 new-buy price of $71,000+. This sporty car scored a perfect rating in the NHTSA automobile safety overview – and also features incredible power for an all-electric option. The Tesla Model S offers superb handling (and can comfortably hold 5 adult passengers). The AWD version is ideal for UberLUX drivers who expect to encounter slush and snow (and the Model S’s in-built Google Maps system will make finding destinations that much easier).
Drivers for UberLUX must have their TCP permit, commercial insurance, and an airport permit. Because these high end cars can be so expensive to buy, leasing is also an option, so – for any vehicles mentioned in this article – it is also worth looking into rental options, in order to avoid having an obsolete (and expensive) car in a few years time, that may no longer meets Uber Lux’s stringent requirements.
