How Do I Contact Lyft Lost and Found?

Lyft Lost and Found – Contact Lyft Lost and Found

I lost an item in a Lyft – what do I do?

Lyft has a fairly comprehensive system in place for recovering lost items, which might have been left behind by passengers inside a Lyft vehicle.

Lyft breaks down its Lost & Found system into two categories:

  • Items lost less than 3 days ago
  • Items lost more than three days ago

If your ride was less than three days ago.

1. Get in touch with your Lyft Driver

Call your driver. Unfortunately, this option is not available for iPhone or iOS users, only to Android users (and it’s only available for up to 24 hours after the completion of a ride)

By Phone:

How do you call your driver? It’s simple:

  1. Open the Lyft App.
  2. Tap your personal profile picture (located in the top left-hand corner of your mobile device’s screen).
  3. Choose ‘Ride History‘.
  4. Locate the trip in question (i.e., the trip in which you believe you likely lost your item).
  5. Choose ‘Find Lost Item
  6. Choose ‘Call
Via Messaging

If your driver doesn’t pick up, leave a voicemail (containing your contact information). If you can’t reach your driver, try messaging them instead:

  1. Open the Lyft App
  2. Tap your personal profile picture (located in the top left-hand corner of your mobile device’s screen).
  3. Choose ‘Ride History‘.
  4. Locate the trip in question (i.e., the trip in which you believe you likely lost your item).
  5. Choose ‘Find Lost Item
  6. Choose ‘Send Message
Via Trip Receipt
  1. Log into your email, and locate the trip receipt for the ride in question.
  2. *To have received an emailed receipt, you must have rated your driver within 24 hours of the completed trip.
  3. You will see an option called ‘Find lost item’, located at the bottom of the email.
  4. Choose ‘Send Message’.

If your trip was more than three days ago

If you lost an item during a Lyft trip which occurred more than 3 days ago, it’s best to get in touch with Lyft directly (fill out this online form), and include the following information:

  • Your full name
  • Your phone number (i.e., the number where you can most easily be reached)
  • Your driver’s name
  • Date of ride
  • Time of ride
  • A description of the lost item (*be as detailed as possible)

*Note: you will be asked to give Lyft permission to disclose your contact info to your Lyft driver, which may be necessary to retrieve your item.

Your driver recovered your item! Now what?

After you’ve used the methods outlined above to get in touch with your driver, hopefully they will find your lost item!

While your communicating with them (via phone, messaging, or any other means), it’s worth finding a place and time they can meet you to drop off your recovered item. Remember, there is no item-recovery fee (they’re doing you a favor), so it’s worth attempting to accommodate them & agree to pick up your item at a place that works for both of you.

It also never hurts to tip your driver for retrieving your lost item!

*What happens if I’m out of town? Or if I lost my item in during a Lyft trip I took in a foreign city?

If you’re unable to meet your driver in-person, it’s possible to arrange for your driver to contact their local Lyft HQ, and have your lost item shipped back to your address.

  1. I took a ride over 5 days ago and am 100% certain I left my phone in the drivers car. I contact lyft support as I obviously did not have my phone. They NEVER heard back from the driver. They basically said they cant get a hold of the driver so o well. That is ridiculous, If you loose a personal belonging or something valuable the driver can basically not respond back and ignore the notifications, but still drive for Lyft?? Maybe they should have a better security protocol. Maybe their Lyft account should be locked and they are un able to drive un till they return communication for a customer they drove. The worst and scariest customer service
