How Turo Works 2019 – Renting a car on Turo

Turo is a peer-to-peer rental car company, which features a portfolio of vehicles which are easily rented through an online system (in many ways similar to AirBnB, but for cars).

Compared to regular rental-car companies, Turo is approximately 30% less expensive – amounting to a significant overall price discount.

How to use Turo

The Turo rental system is easy to use, for both vehicle owners (and renters) alike. Vehicle owners register their cars online, where they are displayed in a vast searchable online database. Prospective vehicle-renters sign up with Turo (and register an account), and are able to browse available vehicles in their area; see prices; and communicate with vehicle owners.

How Vehicle Owners can use Turo to rent out their cars

After setting up an account with Turo, a vehicle’s owner uses the Turo network to set up a individualized profile of their specific car. Then, vehicle owners simply list the time and location a vehicle will be available for rental.

Anyone with a vehicle can register their car online (which can then be viewed & leased by members of Turo’s network).

Vehicle owners are allowed to set their own rental prices (or, alternatively, they may use Turo’s in-built pricing system) — meaning, there are no ‘fixed prices’ on Turo. Costs differ for every vehicle.

Turo takes a 25% commission.

Renting a Car using Turo

Anyone who signs up with Turo, and begins browsing Turo’s online car marketplaces, can rent a car.

Once a user sees a listing that interests them (and decides that they want to rent the vehicle) they simply reserve a ‘time slot’ for a particular car.

Owners can either have a renter come to them (and pickup the vehicle), or they can use Turo’s ‘delivery option’, in which they opt to drive the vehicle to a designated pick-up spot.
