What is UberRUSH?

UberRUSH is Uber’s new ultra-fast delivery service, which is currently available in select cities.

Unlike traditional Uber rides (which connect drivers to passengers) UberRUSH connects drivers with couriers. UberRUSH joins a new wave of extra-fast ‘rideshare delivery’ services quickly gaining in popularity across the United States (i.e., services such as Doordash, Postmates, and Amazon Flex).

Where is UberRUSH available?

UberRUSH launched in 2015, and is still establishing itself as a delivery service across the United States.

Currently, RUSH is available in:

  • Manhattan (NYC)
  • Queens (NYC)
  • Brooklyn (NYC)
  • Chicago
  • San Francisco

UberRUSH picks-up and drop-off packages for RUSH users, promising ultra-fast, reliable and low-cost service.

When using the UberRUSH app, customers see where their delivery currently is on an interactive map, making for a smoother delivery & drop off process.

Pricing varies, depending on the city. This is what an average client (such as a retail store), would be charged on a standard delivery:

  • New York — $5.50 within one mile + $2.50 for each extra mile
  • Chicago — $5 within one mile + $2.75 for each extra mile
  • San Francisco — $6 within one mile + $3 per extra mile

Similar to UberX, RUSH drivers receive between 75 and 80 percent of the delivery cost.

With RUSH, drivers have the potential to make between $20 and $30 per hour, depending on location and schedule. RUSH is an attractive option for rideshare drivers who like the flexibility of ridesharing, but prefer less passenger interaction & the frequent social interfacing which comes with picking-up and dropping-off passengers.

If you’re interested in driving for RUSH, you will need to be:

  • At least 19 years of age
  • Have at least one year of driving experience
  • Be able to lift 30 lbs (if you’re a bike courier) and 50 lbs (if you’re a vehicle courier)
  • And have an insured, registered vehicle.

UberRUSH also requires applicants to undergo a background check (similar to Uber’s other services).

If interested, you can sign up here to drive for UberRUSH.
