What happens if you’re in an accident during an Uber trip, or if an Uber driver is involved in an accident?
Below is a guide to Uber accidents, for passengers and drivers.
In the event of an accident:
For Uber Drivers/Partners
If your Uber vehicle has been involved in an accident, follow these steps:
- Check that all passengers involved are safe, and that you are unharmed.
- Immediately call emergency personnel (paramedics or police, via 911 or your local emergency line) if necessary.
- If the accident is serious, contact Uber at 800-353-8237.
Whether an accident is serious or minor, drivers MUST follow the directions below on their Uber App:
- Navigate to Trip and Fare Review > I was in an accident.
- Write up the details of your accident.
- Uber will examine the details of the accident, and get in contact with you.
For insurance information, drivers can navigate to ‘Account’ in their Uber App, and locate ‘Insurance’, which will provide information about insurance coverage in their specific area.
For Uber Passengers/Riders:
If during your Uber trip, your driver or vehicle has been involved in an accident, follow these steps:
- Check that your & any other passengers are safe & unhurt, and that your driver is unharmed.
- If necessary, immediately call emergency personnel (paramedics or police, via 911 or your local emergency line).
- If the accident is serious, contact Uber at 800-353-8237.
