Uber SAN Airport Guide
Below, you’ll find our guide to Uber San Diego International Airport, for both Uber Drivers & Uber Riders.

1. Riders: Getting Picked Up by Uber at San Diego Airport
To request an Uber at SAN Airport, simply follow the steps below:
1. Choose your preferred Uber Service at SAN
Open your Uber App, and request an Uber vehicle as you normally would.
Currently, the services available at San Diego Airport include:
- UberX
- Uber XL
- UberPOOL
- UberESPANOL
- UberASSIST
- UberWAV
- UberSELECT
- UberBLACK
- UberSUV
2. Uber Passenger Pickup Location at San Diego Airport:
Your driver will pick you up at either Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, depending on your chosen Uber service (see list above).
If you have requested UberESPANOL, UberX, UberXL, UberPOOl or UberSELECT, you must meet your Uber driver at a special pickup zone. Look for signs marked ‘App-Enabled Rideshare Services‘, and await your driver.
If you have requested either UberBLACK or UberSUV, meet your driver curbside. If you have difficulty locating your driver, get in touch with them directly by either texting them, or calling them using the ‘Contact your Driver‘ in-app option.
Terminal One:
- Take the escalator (located across from SAN’s baggage carousel #3)
- Walk directly across the Sky Bridge.
Head down the escalator. You driver will await you in the parking lot.
For Terminal 2:
- Exit SAN’s baggage claim area.
- Walk to the Departures Area, located on the upper level.

2. Riders: Getting Dropped Off by Uber at San Diego Airport
To be dropped off at San Diego Airport, simply request an Uber vehicle as you normally would, and input the appropriate San Diego Airport Terminal as your final destination.
3. Drivers: Picking Passengers Up at San Diego International Airport
Upon officially entering San Diego Airport’s property, drivers will automatically be entered into a virtual ‘queue’ for Uber requests.
This area is denoted in blue in the map below:
Drivers may also voluntarily wait for Uber passenger requests at SAN’s staging lot (see map below), but it is NOT required. As long as drivers are on San Diego Airport grounds, they will automatically be put in line to receive incoming trip requests.
Picking Up Passengers at Terminal One:
Once you’ve received a request to pickup a passenger at SAN’s Terminal One, head towards the terminal area.
You will be required to manually take a parking ticket (in order to gain entrance to Terminal One’s parking area).
The first ten minutes inside the Terminal One parking area are free-of-charge (if you wait longer than ten minutes, you will be charged an additional parking fee).
Picking up Passengers at Terminal Two:
After you have received a trip request, drive towards the airport’s Departures Level (upper level area) of SAN’s Terminal Two.
You will find the rideshare pickup zone BETWEEN Delta/United Airlines & American Airline‘s check-in area.
Only pickup your riders in the GREEN area shown in the image below. All other areas risk incurring fines by San Diego Airport authorities.
4. Drivers: Dropping Off Passengers at San Diego Airport
Drop off Uber passengers at their requested departure terminal at San Diego International Airport.
*Be certain your Uber Driver App is active/turned on when dropping passengers off at SAN.
