New York UberBLACK Vehicle Requirements:
If you want to drive for UberBLACK, you must have access to a qualifying vehicle:
- Your vehicle must have 4 doors (which open independently).
- Your vehicle must be from 2012 or newer
- You must have a clean title (no salvage vehicles are allowed).
- Your vehicle must have TLC Plates.
- Your vehicle must be in excellent condition (cosmetically, and mechanically).
- Your vehicle must have a black exterior.
- Your vehicle must have a leather/premium interior.
UberBLACK Documents
All prospective UberBLACK drivers must provide these documents for their Uber account to be officially activated:
- Valid driver’s license (DMV License)
- Vehicle Registration (Copy of Registration Card)
- Vehicle Insurance (vehicular insurance must list a vehicle & driver’s name directly on the policy document itself). Also known as Certificate of FH-1 Insurance
- TLC/FHV License
- Supplemental insurance (*only necessary if your name is not listed on the vehicle’s Certificate of Liability or FH1 documentation).
- Uber NYC does not require a Background Check verification document.
